Once you’ve explored the treasures inside the Gamble House, you may be eager to fit the house into the larger picture of Greene and Greene’s work and its setting of Pasadena. This docent-guided tour combo allows for both, offering an exploration of the exterior of the house, grounds, and setting, followed by a walking tour of the nearby Park Place tract, where ten earlier Greene and Greene houses can be found (1902-1907; exteriors only). These houses, including Charles Greene’s own home, illustrate the firm’s developing aesthetic, which responded to the landscape of the nearby Arroyo Seco.
