Just as Charles and Henry Greene relied on the master craftspeople of their day, the Gamble House continues to benefit from the expertise and long-term dedication of those with a deep knowledge of their art and a passion for the nuances of material and technique. Through our new Gamble House video series, Gamble House Connect, we celebrate their work and make it available to a broader audience. Please join us for the premieres of two long-form videos that document the "Details and Joinery" and "Fire and Light" (art glass) specialty tours.

Jim Ipekjian is a renowned master woodworker and fine cabinetmaker who has spent nearly half a century immersed in the work of Greene & Greene at every scale, from the architectural details to the furniture to the inlay techniques. Jim's work (along with that of his son Jack Ipekjian) was featured on the "California" episode of PBS's legendary Craft in America series. For his contributions to the knowledge of Greene and Greene's design work in wood and the woodworking practices of John and Peter Hall (who executed the Greenes' projects), as well as years of dedication to the "Details and Joinery" tour that he created, Jim was named a Gamble House Honorary Docent. Following the screening of the video, Jim will show examples of furniture, joinery, and inlay that he has made to illustrate the techniques used in Greene & Greene furniture.
