The Gamble House in Pasadena, California, is an internationally known masterwork of American Arts and Crafts architecture. The house and its furnishings were designed by architects Greene & Greene in 1908 for David and Mary Gamble of the Procter & Gamble Company of Cincinnati, Ohio. Realizing its artistic importance, the family deeded the house to the City of Pasadena in 1966. The house is stewarded and operated by the Gamble House Conservancy.

On this tour, your docent will lead an exploration of the house and its history through rooms lined with rare woods, featuring handcrafted details, fixtures, and furnishings designed by the architects and unique to the house. The Gamble House exemplifies the work of Greene & Greene, illuminating the themes in their work that contributed significantly to Southern California’s early 20th century artistic heritage and built environment.

For a more in-depth exploration of the house, pair the 12pm tour with the 10:45am Gardens & Gables: Exploring the Gamble House Outdoors tour on select Tuesdays and Sundays or every Saturday.

Please note that interior masking is strongly encouraged, especially in larger groups.
