Tesserae Baroque presents a musical event that explores the link between the Early Music movement and the Arts and Crafts movement, focusing on the pioneering work of Arnold Dolmetsch. Dolmetsch, who was admired by William Morris, was both a performer and instrument restorer and maker, and, as an early champion of 'authentic' performances of early music, one of the first people in Britain to build copies of historic instruments. His life and work is in fact perfectly representative of the aesthetics and ethos of the Arts and Craft movement, as is the Gamble House.

For this very special event, Tesserae musicians - a viol consort, a lute and recorder duo, and a clavichordist - will be placed throughout the Gamble House, inviting the audience to rotate in a manner that allows a full experience of the synergy between music and architecture.
