Exploring The Gamble House Outdoors
Take our one-hour docent-guided tour, Gardens & Gables: Exploring the Gamble House Outdoors. With your guide, you’ll explore the history and context of the gardens and exterior of The Gamble House. This is an exterior only tour.
Your guide will discuss:
- How the Gamble House exemplifies the work of Greene & Greene
- How the Greenes worked with the Gamble family to create a masterwork of functional and beautiful design
- The development of the gardens, landscape, terraces, and porches as a setting for early 20th century outdoor living
- The materials, features and joinery that make the house unique
Tours are offered at 10:45am on Saturdays and on select Tuesdays and Sundays. For a deeper dive into the house, pair your Gardens tour with the One-Hour Docent-Guided Interior tour at 12pm.
Check-in
Please plan to check-in approximately 10 minutes prior to the start of your tour. Check-in is at the Gamble House Bookstore, located on the north side of the Gamble House property, 4 Westmoreland Place, Pasadena, CA 91103. Westmoreland Place is parallel to Orange Grove Boulevard between W. Walnut Street and Rosemont Avenue.
Parking
Park on Westmoreland Place in designated spaces, directly in front of the Gamble House only. Additional parking is available on Orange Grove Blvd. and W. Walnut Street. On weekends you may also park in adjacent spaces designated for Westmoreland Academy. Please do NOT park in the parking lot south of the Gamble House or on Arroyo Terrace at any time.
Important Information
Your tickets are non-refundable except for illness due to COVID. Your purchased tickets guarantee your space at the specific time and date of your tour or event.
A Note on Accessibility
This tour covers uneven terrain and surfaces and includes stairs. Only a portion of the tour is wheelchair accessible. Please call 626-793-3334 with questions. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

When at The Gamble House, you enter a site where photography, audio, and video recording may occur. By entering the premises, you consent to such recording media and its release, publication, exhibition or reproduction.
What Is Not Included?
Gratuities for your guided tour are not included or expected, but we welcome contributions online or to the donation box in the Bookstore.
